Biography

Mr. Santiago is an adjunct professor of International Law (INR 4401) at the School of Politics, Security, and International Affairs. The course explores the nature, evolution, and sources of international law. Additionally, the course examines international legal principles of various sub-areas such as recognition, jurisdiction, nationality, airspace, outer space, maritime, environment, human rights, and armed conflict.

Mr. Santiago is a proud alum of the University of Central Florida and former member of their Army R.O.T.C. program, Fighting Knights Battalion. Following his graduation, he served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve as a communications officer. He received his law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and an LL.M. in National Security & U.S. Foreign Relations from George Washington University College of Law. He served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force as a judge advocate and transitioned to the Air Force Reserve in 2015. He has served in a variety of assignments at all levels of command including Combatant Commands, Major Commands, Numbered Air Forces and Wings. Mr. Santiago has also served as part of the faculty at the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s School, teaching Operations and International Law. He currently serves as Assistant Chief Counsel at the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, in Orlando, FL.
