Biography
Nathan Becker is a second-year PhD student at the University of Central Florida’s Security Studies program. Nathan is researching civil-military and civil-intelligence relations in the U.S. to assess propensity to serve in the military amongst potential recruits and the effects this has on national defense strategy. He earned his commission in the U.S. Army via the University of South Dakota Reserve Officer Training Corps in May 2008 in Military Intelligence, serving his country in both tactical and strategic roles around the world covering Military Intelligence, Congressional Affairs and Public Affairs. After his medical retirement from the U.S. Army, he worked in defense contractor roles supporting the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency before returning to the U.S. Army as a Department of the Army Civilian, working as a Public Affairs Specialist and Deputy Public Affairs Officer for the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). Nathan holds bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice from the University of South Dakota, and a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of South Dakota. Becker is married to his best friend, has three amazing kids, three dogs, and is a lifelong Yankees fan.
