Biography

Richard L. Russell is Adjunct Instructor of Security Studies in the School of Politics, Security, and International Affairs at the University of Central Florida.  He teaches “Professional Development in Political Science II:  Ethics and Practice in Security Studies” (POS 7267) and “Seminar on Intelligence” (INR 6365).  He also serves on the advisory board for the department’s PhD in Security Studies program.

Russell also is Non-Resident Senior Fellow for Strategic Studies at the Center for the National Interest, a non-partisan public policy research institution in Washington, DC.  He earned a Ph.D. in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, previously taught security studies at the National Defense University and Georgetown University, and was a political-military analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency.

Russell is the author of Sharpening Strategic Intelligence (Cambridge University Press), Weapons Proliferation and War in the Greater Middle East (Routledge), and George F.
