Purple Patrol Portal

Recorded Informational Meeting (31 March 2021).

Purple Patrol Protocol
This protocol gives an overview of everything you need to start patrolling. It specifies the behaviors we are interested in documenting and how to record the location of the birds. There is also an identification guide to help determine age and sex of the purple martins you observe.

Field Data Sheet
Please download and record your observations in the field data sheet below. The first two pages are for your data entry, the third page shows how to complete the data sheet, and the fourth page gives a more detailed explanation of the different acronyms to use. If you have any questions, please contact us via purple.patrol.fl (a) gmail.com or contact us through Facebook.

Patrolling Routes
These are some suggested patrolling routes that you may choose to take. They range in distance and volunteers are encouraged to follow the path they are most comfortable with. If you prefer to take a different route, please record the trail names that you followed in the comments section of the datasheet. Click on the text links below to download printable pdf versions of each trail map.
