Research Area(s)
Dr. Randall Parkinson is a marine geologist and registered professional geologist whose primary research interests are in the fields of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and coastal zone management. His basic research interests focus primarily on the origin and evolution late Quaternary coastal environments including the inner continental shelf, barrier island systems, tidal wetlands and low energy shorelines. Dr. Parkinson’s applied research interests include quantifying the cumulative effects of urbanization and sea level rise on the built and natural environment, geologic mapping to facilitate natural resource management, and stakeholder education and outreach.
