Congratulations College of Sciences Summer Ph.D. Graduates
In a reception hosted by Dean Michael Johnson, the College of Sciences honored 11 Ph.D graduates on Friday, August 1, 2014. The Ph.D. graduates attended the reception in the Physical Sciences Building on the UCF campus with their families and faculty advisors.
Associate Dean Teresa Dorman hosted a presentation that individually recognized each graduate with their faculty advisor and read a brief description of their dissertation research. A champagne toast followed the presentation to cheer the continued success of these graduates. The following day the graduates attended their graduation ceremony at the UCF Arena.
The graduates come from many different departments within the College of Sciences.

Dr. Abhijeet Ardey – Earned his Ph.D. in Physics with a dissertation titled “On‐Chip Optical Stabilization of High‐Speed Mode‐Locked Quantum Dot Lasers for Next Generation Optical Networks”. His faculty advisor is Dr. Peter Delfyett.
Dr. Christopher Coultas – Earned his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology with a dissertation titled, “Identity construction and information processing in a coaching relationship: The effects of coach behavior on coachee goal-setting and commitment.” His faculty advisor is Dr. Eduardo Salas.
Dr. Danielle Lindner – Earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a dissertation titled “The development and psychometric evaluation of a new measure of self-objectification”. Her faculty advisor is Dr. Stacey Dunn.
Dr. Christopher Lorscher – Earned his Ph.D. in Physics with a dissertation titled “Novel properties of ferromagnetic p‐wave superconductors.” His faculty advisor is Dr. Richard Klemm.
Dr. Rebecca Lyons – Earned her Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology with a dissertation titled, “Examining the impact of error encouragement on training outcomes.” Her advisor is Dr. Eduardo Salas.
Dr. Evgeny Martinenko – Earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics with a dissertation titled, “Functional data analysis and its application to cancer data.” His faculty advisor is Dr. Marianna Pensky.
Dr. Hari Paudel – Earned his Ph.D. in Physics with a dissertation titled, “The effect of electron‐hole pairs in semiconductor and topological insulator nanostructures on plasmon resonances and photon polarizations.” His faculty advisor is Dr. Michael Leuenberger.
Dr. Kamran Sadiq – Earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics with a dissertation titled, “On the range characterization of the attenuated radon transform in strictly convex sets” His faculty advisor is Dr. Alexandru Tamasan.
Dr. Elizabeth Sanz – Earned her Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology with a dissertation titled, “Exploring stereotype threat in the workplace with sexual minorities.” Her faculty advisor is Dr. Barbara Fritzsche.
Dr. Walter “Brent” Wilson – Earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry with a dissertation titled, “Novel developments on the extraction and analysis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in environmental samples.” His faculty advisor is Dr. Andres Campiglia.
Dr. Matthew Marraffino – Earned his Ph.D. in Applied Experimental and Human Factors Psychology with a dissertation titled, “Examining the effects of interactive dynamic multimedia and direct touch input on performance of a procedural motor task.” His faculty advisor is Dr. Valerie Sims.
