A Summer of Honor

This summer, one of our revered professors in the mathematics department was honored as Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker at several International Conferences on Mathematical Sciences in India. Dr. Kuppalapalle Vajravelu spoke at three different conferences during his time in India.

His first stop, from July 17-19, was at Sathyabama University in Chennai, India. He spoke to an audience of 280 participants plus university faculty for the International Conference on Mathematical Sciences. He spoke about modeling and finding solutions to fluid flow and heat transfer problems with applications to aeronautical and chemical engineering as well as physics.

 Following his lecture in Chennai, he traveled to Tirupati, India, to speak at Sri Venkateswara University. Attending the second International Conference on Applications of Fluid Dynamics, Vajravelu spoke to an audience of approximately 250 people.

His third stop in India was in Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University, in Bellary, India. Attending his lecture at the International Conference of Emerging Trends in Mathematical Sciences were 180 people, plus university faculty.

 At all three lectures Vajravelu was honored for his contributions to science and engineering.

“I felt very humble for being honored for my contributions to science and engineering in front of some of my professors and the researchers from all over the world,” Vajravelu said.

His final stop was on July 28, at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Bangalore, India. Here Dr. Vajravelu delivered an invited lecture.

Vajravelu stated that there was a mix of pure and applied mathematics at his first conference, at the second and third conferences there were more papers on applications of mathematical techniques to science and engineering processes.

We congratulate Dr. Vajravelu on his accomplishments this summer and for representing the UCF Colleges of Sciences so well to an international audience.
