Meet College of Sciences Ace Award Winners: Doreen Goulding and Jamie Kosnosky
The College of Sciences recognizes our outstanding staff with the Staff Ace Award. Winners of the Ace Award exhibit initiative to support COS while working well with those around them. They are “movers and shakers” in their departments and inspire others with their leadership skills.
Congratulations to our February and March 2023 Ace Award recipients!

Title: Graduate Student Services Coordinator / part-time OPS
Department/School: Nicholson School of Communication and Media
How long have you been at UCF? January 2020
Hometown: Johnstown, Pennsylvania
How would your friends and family describe you?
Weird. Nerdy. Goofy. I’m really into Magic the Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons and reading science fiction.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I enjoy interacting with our student population. We have students in our feature film program from Iran and Nigeria. It’s fascinating to interact with the students and get a perspective on American culture from their point of view. I also enjoy our faculty; they treat me with kindness and realize that staff are very integral to our school’s success.
What do you enjoy about being a Knight?
I really enjoy the diversity, especially as a member of the LGBTQ community. UCF actually does support diversity.
Who inspires you?
The person who has inspired me most was my boss from my first job; her name was Laverne Wheeler. When I started at the University of Pittsburgh I had no idea what was I doing, but she took me under her wing. She always saw the best side of people, so I try to copy her and lead with kindness.
