Faculty members honored for teaching, research achievements

About 100 faculty members have been recognized by UCF for their outstanding accomplishments in research and teaching. Professors were selected for Trustee Chair Professorships based on their extraordinary record of accomplishment in teaching, research and service.

Recipients were Peter Hancock from the College of Sciences, Mubarak A. Shah from the College of Engineering and Computer Science and Eric W. Van Stryland from the College of Optics and Photonics.

Professors from each college received Teaching Incentive Program awards, which are given to faculty members who demonstrate teaching productivity and excellence. Recipients for the College of Sciences include: Sarah Barber, Barry J. Griffiths, Alvaro Islas, Michael Reid, Jason Swanson, Kerstin Hamann, Drew Lanier, Stephan Ihde, Jonathan Matusitz, Daniel McConnell, Pedro Patino, Nizam Uddin and Graham Worthy.

The following faculty members received Research Incentive Awards for outstanding research, scholarly or creative activity that advances knowledge in a particular field. Recipients for the College of Sciences include: Deborah Beidel, Joshua Colwell, Talat Rahman, Denise Elizabeth DeLorme and Eric Hoffman.

Several faculty members also were noted for their success in research related to the scholarship of teaching and learning including Eduardo Salas from the psychology department.
