Meet April and May 2023 UCF College of Sciences Ace Award Winners: Maria Williams and Christina Alecse
The College of Sciences recognizes outstanding staff with the Staff Ace Award. Winners of the Ace Award exhibit initiative to support COS while working well with those around them. They are “movers and shakers” in their departments and inspire others with their leadership skills.

Maria Williams

How would your friends and family describe you? Caring, funny, supportive and always willing to listen
What do you enjoy about your job? I like working with different people and helping them solve their scheduling needs and any other issues that they may have.
What do you enjoy about being a Knight? Everyone is friendly.
Who inspires you at work? My supervisor Teresa Dorman and all those that I work with within the College and our departments/schools. Everyone is always polite, understanding, kind and friendly.
Christina Alecse

How would your friends and family describe you? Resourceful and reflective
What do you enjoy about your job? The pure fact that we help people. As someone who manages behind the scenes, I don’t often encounter firsthand stories of how impactful our treatment is. When someone from the public tells me how our treatment benefited them or someone they know, it drives me forward.
What do you enjoy about being a Knight? I like being surrounded by so many people that are all aiming to succeed.
Who inspires you at work? I’m going to go against the grain and say that I do. I inspire myself. I want to enjoy what I’m doing, enjoy coming to work every day – and I know that I am the person that can make that happen.
People like Maria and Christina help us reach our collective potential. Their hard work and dedication to UCF inspires us all to Charge On.
