A column written by Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Central Florida Aubrey Jewett, Ph.D., topped the website Sayfie Review this month.

On January 12, 2017, Jewett’s column titled “The Contest to Predict the Presidential Winner in Florida Was as Close as the Race Itself” was posted to the website, which is considered the most influential Florida politics website.

In his column, Jewett compared four major poll aggregation websites on their ability to predict the winner in Florida in the 2016 presidential election.

“Florida was once again the most important battleground state in the presidential election,” explained Jewett.  “The race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton was close for months and went back and forth.”

Jewett said a number of websites sought to track the race and predict the final outcome based on pre-election polls of Floridians. His column evaluates the websites on their ability to most closely predict the winner.
