My primary research interests lie in diplomatic security and terrorist organizations in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

My work on diplomatic security examines the conditions under which diplomatic missions are attacked, the influence of diplomatic relations between sending and host states on the likelihood of such attacks, and the role of conflict in triggering violence against diplomatic entities.

In the field of counter-terrorism, I focus on the emergence and evolution of terrorist organizations in the MENA region, particularly in the context of the Arab Spring. I explore how the designation of groups as terrorist organizations (blacklisting) affects their discourse, behavior, and operational strategies.

Additionally, I have strong research interests in human trafficking and illegal immigration, with a focus on migration routes across Africa and into Europe, and the role of regional instability in shaping these dynamics.
