Officer Meeting
Location: Partnership II Building, Research Park
Present: Joe Keebler, Carrie Murphy, Katie Del Giudice, Heather Lum, Dave Schuster
Meeting Notes:
- We need to turn in a SAFE form for each event where people may/could get hurt: perhaps for the video game display at each tailgating event.
- Carrie went over some things she learned from the SGA meeting, she will type these up and we’ll add them to the chapter binder as a reference.
- SGA gives up to $1,000 for speakers
- We’re considering buying a higher-quality tent for tailgating that will be passed down over time….we can buy small one-use grills from the grocery store for tailgating.
- We’ve started a new series of get-togethers: “HFES Luncheons”…get together to have lunch on Friday at the Psych Building. First one happening October 3rd. Faculty and staff are invited as well as all students.
- We still need to update the chapter constitution!
- Halloween Party will happen at Aaron Pepe’s house October 24th from 8-12pm….need to finalize details at the next chapter officer meeting.
- Projects for NEM: teach-in at a local school, science fair judging in November, video game display at the end of October
- For NEM: we need to reserve a room at the Union…Joe will do this before the officer meeting next week. We also need to send out an email asking people what video game systems they have. All details need to be finalized at the chapter officer meeting next week.
- We need to advertise for the NEM video game display. Possibilities include the scrolling sign over the Union, Good Morning UCF email list, and stand-up signs inside the Union.
Ideas:
- We want to decorate the student lounge with our awards, a corkboard/whiteboard, maybe painting or the HFES logo….ask Becky Sharp about these possibilities.
- Katie will look into getting a chapter awards form on the website so we can track our progress towards meeting gold level over the year.
- Liz suggested we have a Disney Quest night for NEM, we can get a group discount. We need a date soon if this is going to happen in October.
- We will look into continuing the series of “Human Factors Founders” interviews, we’ll do a few with local professors and then approach HFES about continuing this at the conference next year. We might be able to sell them or put them up on iTunes University for download. We might also want to get the original Alfred Chapanis video from Dr. Hancock to use as a reference.
