- President – Enilda Velazquez
Enilda is a graduate student under the advisement of Dr. Peter Hancock. Her primary research interest is in multi-target visual search with a secondary interest in human-AI interaction. Enilda graduated from UCF in 2020 with a BS in Psychology and minors in Cognitive Sciences and Intelligence & National Security. Her main hobby is reading. Enilda has an affinity towards the literary classics of the romantic to modern period, epic high fantasy, and cult-classic horror.
- Vice President – Jazmyn
Jazmyn is a doctoral student in the Performance Research Laboratory under Dr. James Szalma. She earned her B.S. and M.S. in Psychology at Arizona State University. Her current research interests are environmental factors and individual differences in vigilance. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and paddle boarding with her pup.
- Treasurer – Kristen Schmidt
Kristen is a fourth-year student in the Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology PhD program at the University of Central Florida. She works with Dr. Valerie Sims in the Applied Cognition and Technology lab with research on topics focusing on social behavior in interactions with virtual systems and agents. She received her Bachelor’s in 2019 with a dual major in Psychology and English at SUNY Binghamton. In her spare time, she enjoys creative writing, yoga, playing tabletop games and video games, and hanging out with her cats, Mimi and Milo.
- Secretary – Gabriela (Gabby) Flores-Cruz
Gabby is currently a third-year doctoral student in the HF program at UCF researching attentional capturers on Zoom. She has been an officer in the student chapter for about three years! Her current role as the secretary is to take meeting minutes and manage chapter records. Her assistant, Pablito, is always eager to help as well!
- Social Chair – Elizabeth (Lizzie) Codick
Lizzie is a 2nd year doctoral candidate in the Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology PhD program at the University of Central Florida. She received her Associate’s degree in Applied Computer Technology (2018), Bachelor’s in Human-Centered Computing (2020), and Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (2022) at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Her research interests include UI and UX design, humans’ behavior with technology as individuals within their many and varied social contexts, and accessibility/inclusive designs. Lizzie has a background in front-end development and has worked on research projects as both a researcher and developer.
- Outreach Chair – Maggie Doheny
Maggie is a second year Ph.D. student in the Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology program at the University of Central Florida. She works with Dr. Nichole Lighthall in the Adult Development & Decisions Lab where she focuses on social cognitive neuroscience across the lifespan. Particularly, she is interested in how social communication is affected or modulated through remote or digital mediums. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and neuroscience and worked as a post-baccalaureate research assistant at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and playing way too much Candy Crush.
- Historian – Alex Alonso
Alex is a first-year student in the Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology PhD program and a member of the Team Performance Lab, under the advisement of Dr. Florian Jentsch. Having earned a graduate certificate in Cognitive Sciences and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Central Florida, their research interests include 4e cognition and collaborative problem-solving.
- Webmaster – Phuoc Thai
Phuoc is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology program at UCF. She works under Dr. Joseph Schmidt’s advisement in the Attention and Memory Lab to study human-AI interaction. She received her BS in Psychology with a minor in Cognitive Sciences from UCF in 2023. In her spare time, she enjoys weightlifting, creating musical melodies, and exploring new places.
