Interested in joining the UCF HFES Student Chapter?
What are the benefits of becoming a member?
We hope to continue supporting our student members throughout 2024 with professional, academic, and social events. Throughout the year we plan to have guest speakers, arrange field trips, host get-togethers, provide professional development opportunities, and so much more. We also plan to petition the SGA for funding for the HFES conference to help our chapter members attend. Only our full members can receive funding to attend the ASPIRE conference through us, alongside some of our other members-only events.
How do I become a member?
To become a member of our chapter, you can do one of the following:
1) Be a HFES National Member ($35): Go to www.hfes.org –> Membership –> Join HFES –> Student Affiliate. Forward us (hfes.ucf@gmail.com) the confirmation email and you are good to go with the student chapter! Joining the national chapter gives you reduced prices for National Conference registration, access to HFES journals and webinars, networking opportunities, and the ability to join Technical Groups.
2) Be a student chapter member ($10): This makes you a member of our student chapter only (while #1 makes you a member of both the National and Student chapters). You will have access to all of the opportunities provided by the student chapter, and we have a lot planned for this year! Please send the $10 dues to our chapter Treasurer, Kristen Schmidt (@Kristen-Schmidt-19 on Venmo with “HFES Dues + [Your name]” in the text). If you would prefer alternate payment, please contact us so we can make arrangements.
Again, you only need to do one of these options to benefit from our Chapter! Please follow the instructions for whichever you choose.
What do I need to do now?
Renew your membership with us by Friday, February 2nd so that we can start planning events and projects! You also have the option to sign up for our Open Event email list here. If you have any questions, feel free to email us.
As always, do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions.
