Chapter Meeting
Location: 301Q, 3rd floor of the Psychology Building

National Usability Day is November 8
- We will coordinate with UPA
- We will have a speaker

- Last year we had video games set up in the student union and a poster about usability aspects
- We have a room on Thursday the 25th of October
- We must keep the booth manned
- We need volunteers to help ward off theft and other malicious activity
- A sign-up sheet was passed around for volunteers
- Justin will help coordinate this day
HFES Conference Bookdrive
- We’ve always done a book drive at the HFES conference
- Let Katie know if you have a volunteer position and would like to hand out flyers at the conference
The barbeque at Lake Claire is suggested for the spring because football season is crazy right now

- Tim will give two tickets to sea world for winner of logo contest
- We’ll post contestants to web and let people vote
- Jessica still needs to find out the restrictions on use of the UCF logo
- A white elephant raffle was suggested
- It was suggested that we could use the sea world tickets that way
- We could use sea world tickets as suggested and have a raffle at Halloween party (must be present to win
- We could give space on the website for sponsors (businesses that donate supplies for raffles).

Formalize Google Groups as a new means of chapter communication
- 5 people (a majority) voted to switch to Google groups as a primary means of communication with members
- We need to send out an invitation to Google to Yahoo groups and ask Lisa to send out a similar invitation to all current students
- All information will be sent out to all groups through the end of the current semester
We will use SGA funding for HFES conference
- We need the information of who wants funding this week in order to submit that to SGA
- A sign-up sheet was passed around
Announcements
First coffee shop is scheduled for September 20, Tim and Justin will bring in additional equipment for use.
All coffee shops will be posted on the website
Unofficial happy hour will be the last Thursday of every month,
The first one will be held September 27 at the Knight’s Library from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Meeting minutes will be posted online
Dues are $7. Please pay Tim
There will be speakers at the chapter meetings, both students and professors will be invited to speak.
This format will start at the next meeting. Katie will invite the speakers.
It was suggested that we might want to have a separate event where the new president of the society speaks
We will invite one professor for October or January. The list of suggestions are:

Suggestions to help with recruiting undergraduates
- Send an e-mail with a link to the definition of human factors and an invitation to the meetings
- Terry Hernandez in Undergrad advising will have e-mail list
- Post flyers
- Tim will design poster with invitation to meetings, coffee hours, and a website link. He will include the first speaker (if available)
- Katie will be responsible for putting them up (with permission)
