Prospective Students

The Department of Anthropology offers a graduate program leading to the Master of Arts degree in Anthropology.  The course work in this program is conceptually four-field with faculty strengths in archaeology, cultural anthropology, and physical anthropology.  A Graduate certificate in Maya Studies may also be earned.  A program of graduate study dependent on the student’s interests will be individually developed with his or her graduate faculty advisor.

Students will be selected for the program on a competitive basis.  Each student must have a specific faculty member agree to mentor them for admission to the program to take place.  Students must also meet the following minimum requirements (meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission):

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Accredited Institution)
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Competitive GRE score
  • Personal Statement (500 words including desired faculty mentor)
  • Three Letters of Recommendation
