Biography

Konok Chapa Das is a Ph.D. candidate specializing in Cultural and Medical Anthropology at the University of Central Florida. She earned her B.S.S. and M.S.S. in Anthropology from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh in 2020. Under the supervision of Dr. Beatriz Reyes-Foster and Dr. Ty Matejowsky, her research focuses on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights among Rohingya Refugee women. Her dissertation explores how Rohingya women navigate reproductive choices within the constraints of a refugee camp setting, examining the cultural, religious, and socio-economic factors that shape their decisions. Her work has shaped her relationship with the Rohingya community as a research assistant at the BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University, where she was involved in a range of projects, including those focused on adolescent reproductive and sexual health and the impact of COVID-19 on displaced populations. In recognition of her work, she was awarded the Trevor Colburn Anthropology Endowment Fund in 2023.
