Biography
Md Abdur Rahman is a PhD student in the Integrative Anthropological Sciences program at the University of Central Florida (UCF), specializing in medical anthropology under the advisement of Dr. Beatriz Reyes-Foster. His research focuses on mental health issues, particularly depression and anxiety disorders, among older adults in Central Florida. He investigates how socioeconomic and cultural factors shape mental health challenges and explores how older adults maintain their well-being within their communities. His work contributes to medical anthropology by informing the development of culturally sensitive mental health policies and interventions.
Abdur Rahman earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Anthropology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. After working in academia at Comilla University, Bangladesh, he pursued a second master’s degree in Anthropology at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in 2023 before beginning his PhD at UCF.
