Biography

Dr. Rachael Root is a cultural anthropologist who is interested in how technology can be incorporated with traditional ethnographic methodology. Her dissertation research focused on challenges Yucatec Maya college students face and the impacts of COVID-19 at Universidad de Oriente in in Yucatan, Mexico. Her previous research focused on relationships and power in competitive player versus player events in World of Warcraft and the economics of minitiendas in Ecuador. Dr. Root enjoys mentoring students and helping them succeed in their own research endeavors.
