The anthropology major results in a broad understanding of humans and the human condition, both past and present. Students are required to pursue a course of study that leads to training in all subdisciplines of anthropology.

- Cultural Anthropology
- Biological Anthropology
- Linguistic Anthropology
- Public & Applied Anthropology
Focal areas for the department are:
- Peoples and Cultures of the Americas
(both ancient and modern) - Archaeology
- Forensics and Human Osteology
- Cultural Competency
- Medical Anthropology
Students majoring or minoring in anthropology with sufficient course background may be provided an opportunity to participate in study abroad/field school programs.
