Anthropology has several recognized subdisciplines and each have their own professional association. The American Anthropological Association (AAA) is the primary professional association of academic anthropologists and students, and members work in the public, private, and non-governmental sectors. These professional organizations host annual meetings for anthropologists to present their research; they also publish peer-reviewed academic journals.
