Research

The Aquatic Biogeochemistry Lab focuses on a combination of basic science and applied science. We work in a variety of natural and engineered ecosystems, ranging from treatment wetlands to rivers, reservoirs, swamps, and coastal marshes. Some studies are conducted under strict laboratory control in an effort to understand specific environmental processes and mechanism, while other involve extensive field sampling or field manipulations.

Three key areas of current research are:

  • Carbon Stability
  • Ecosystems Transitions
  • Coastal Restoration
  • Applied Biogeochemistry
