Entomological Society of Central Florida (ESCF)

The Entomological Society of Central Florida is a club at the University of Central Florida centered around insects. Anyone can be a member and there are no fees. The only requirement is that you possess a curiosity about insects, which are often much-maligned in our culture, but which are actually immensely fascinating! We hold meetings monthly and if you would like to attend one, please join the e-mail list or check out our Facebook page (address and link below).

We are also very dedicated to outreach and are always interested in bringing a program to you, such as to a school, library, garden club, etc. Please inquire with details via the e-mail address or Facebook page and our Outreach Coordinator will get back to you as soon as possible. We know insects are often thought of as creepy pests, but give us a chance to try and change your mind!

Upcoming Meetings

Meeting dates and times are confirmed with members via GroupMe based on what is best for the majority of the group. We hold polls and decide from there. If you are not currently in our GroupMe chat, you may download the app and email us at entoscf@gmail.com where we can send you a link to our chat. This option only applies to current UCF students!

Outreach

Volunteers will help with handling live insects, microscopes activities, and hands-on experiments.  Email us at entoscf@gmail.com to sign up and include availability.

Nature Walks

Members will explore the natural world of bugs through various trails on campus and locally. We will identify what is caught and educate the group about how to efficiently collect insects via nets and/or traps. Meet at UCF Bug Closet unless otherwise specified. We always provide nets and vials.

Spring 2020: We will hold a nature walk/hike every Monday at 4pm for the entire semester of Spring 2020! Meet us in front of the Bug Closet on the 1st floor of the Biological Sciences building. Nets and vials will be provided.
