COSmic Knight Gianna Mascaro is in Tune with her Passions

Gianna Mascaro’s ear for music blossomed on long car rides with her parents listening to Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones. Since then, the ambitious digital news journalism major has joined numerous organizations to continue her career. She worked for Knight News as an entertainment writer, where she met new connections, experienced events and fine-tuned her writing skills.

Gianna interned with the renowned Consequence of Sound online magazine. There she combined her two passions: writing and music. Gianna says she worked with her favorite artists, and that her experiences opened up more doors for her career than she anticipated.

Her hard work paid off when she was chosen as one of 10 students in the country for the Young Festival Entrepreneur Program as part of XLIVE. During this “indescribable” event, Gianna met with some of the world’s most acclaimed festival producers, creators, executives and attended workshops alongside them.

Gianna’s accomplishments don’t stop there, she has even managed to start her own online music magazine Refined Rewind. This magazine is an independent, multi-centric, multi-genre, online music magazine that focuses on national and international music news, pictures, festivals, tour dates, interviews, playlists, song streams, videos, industry and gear news, special events and beyond. Some of Gianna’s inspiration comes from hidden gems in different music scenes, and believes all of the hubs for music around the world deserve recognition.

Gianna lives life by her motto, “Do what you want and desire, not what you see and honor. Essentially, ride your own wave and create your own path!” She wants other students to know it is important to focus on yourself and your dreams and not let outside forces affect you.
