UCF Alumnus Directs Digital Marketing in Entertainment Industry

unnamedFrederick Morris, ’09, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in interpersonal organizational communication. Morris currently directs digital marketing and social media for Career Artist Management. He manages social media accounts and websites for artists, including: Maroon 5, Adam Levine, Robin Thicke, Big Boi, Mary Lambert, Damian Marley, Flogging Molly and more. He has worked on two number one albums and seven Top 10 releases in the past two years. He has also worked on campaigns for The Voice, The Grammys, Oscars, Unicef, Dancing With The Stars, Nissan, Honda and many more.

From being head of digital sales and marketing at Century Media Records, to digital project and label manager for Indie-Pop Music, and now in his current position at Career Artist Management, Morris thanks UCF for his degree and the power of internships for his success along the way.

Morris shares more on his time at UCF, his current position, and offers advice to current students.

Why did you choose to attend UCF?

Because I knew that I would get a quality education.

How has your UCF degree helped you in your career?

It helped me get my foot in the door with all the internships and jobs I applied for before and after graduation.

Have you stayed involved with UCF since graduation?

I am a part of the UCF Los Angeles Alumni Chapter.

What is your best UCF memory?

Having my parents, friends and family watch me graduate.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

Being able to work in an industry that I love, being able to influence an artist/bands fans, and helping the fans engage closely with the artist they love.

What is your most memorable experience on the job?

Receiving a platinum plaque for my work with Maroon 5 and Robin Thicke. Also, working on both of their #1 albums.

What piece of advice would you give to current students as well as UCF alumni?

Internships are the most important opportunities to building your career and networking.

Do you have any special/hidden talents?

Professional Jenga Master.

What do you do for fun?

Hiking in and around LA and California, going to shows, listening to music, traveling the world and playing soccer.

What is the most generous or thoughtful gift you have ever received?

A fan once sent me a thank you for getting her and her mother tickets to a Maroon 5 show in the form of a music card.

What is your favorite game?

Monopoly and Chess (Yes, I’m boring)

What is something most people do not know about you?

I’ve never been on a cruise before and never want to.
