What Can You Do With Your Sociology Degree?
Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the UCF Teaching Academy (TA), Room 130, the sociology department will hold its first career day. The event will become an annual networking opportunity for students and employers to attend. UCF’s Sociology department is dedicated to educating their students about what job prospects are available with a sociology degree. The sociology major covers a broad spectrum of fields such as: Crime, Law & Deviance; Diversity and Social Inequality; Mass Culture & Collective behavior; Medical Sociology; and general Sociology. Therefore, the sociology department has put together a diverse list of employers to ensure students will have representation from a variety of careers they may wish to pursue.
UCF’s Sociology department wants to give students the opportunity to display their talents to organizations likely to hire them in the future. The event, while career focused, will also provide information on possible internships. These internships will give students a chance to “test out” their dream career and see if it is right for them. There will also be opportunities for students to volunteer with an organization they admire and want to know more about.
A list of confirmed employers attending includes:
Harbor House
Covenant House
Feeding Children Everywhere
Seminole County Sheriff’s Office
Mental Health Association of Florida
UCF Victim Services
This event is free and open for students to attend.
