College of Sciences Starts New Tradition for its Graduates
The College of Sciences has 10 departments and is the largest college on campus in terms of student enrollment. To celebrate its students’ accomplishments and promote a sense of camaraderie between the departments, the college hosted a Graduation Reception on Dec. 13, 2013 in the atrium of the psychology building after commencement.
Previously, some of the college’s departments hosted their own graduation receptions, but the inaugural College of Sciences graduation reception included everyone from the areas of Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry, Nicholson School of Communication, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology. The event was enjoyed by nearly 50 graduating students along with their families, for a total of more than 200 guests. Faculty and staff from each department, along with special guest Knightro, greeted the graduates at the reception while enjoying desserts, refreshments, and discussing future plans.
The planning committee has already started working on the spring graduation reception. More details and invites to graduating students will be communicated in April.
To view photos from the event and to stay connected with the College of Sciences, graduating students are encouraged to visit the alumni Facebook photo album and tag themselves.
