Double Title and Award: COS Student Staff Member Wins Big

Collegiate DECAOn March 5-8, Florida Collegiate DECA hosted its 50th annual statewide Career Development Conference at the Florida Hotel & Conference Center in Orlando, FL. College of Sciences student and Communications Assistant, Emilee Jackson placed third in the state in two events, Marketing Management and Business-To-Business Marketing.  These top finishes helped her qualify for the international business competition.

With events from Business Finance to Hospitality Management offered, Jackson competed in Marketing Management and Business-To-Business Marketing. Business-To-Business Marketing contained 11 groups of two and Marketing Management had 22 individuals competing.

In both events, she was tasked with various marketing goals to meet such as developing a Public Relations plan and using social media to promote a stated brand.

Throughout the four-day event, over 150 college students from schools around Florida competed for top 10 spots, making them eligible to compete at the international level. Collegiate DECA includes over 15,000 members in 275 colleges and universities.

With a nearly 70-year history, DECA has impacted the lives of more than ten million students, educators, school administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946.
