December 2018:

Thanks for your interest in the Social Sciences B.S. program at UCF! The program has seen a lot of changes in the past year.  First, Dr. Liz Grauerholz, the former Director of the program passed the torch to me in the summer of 2018.  Since taking over, my main goal was to try to do my best to keep things running smoothly; Dr. Grauerholz left some very big shoes to fill!  I want to thank her for making the transition a success by having everything in top-notch order!

Second, the Social Sciences program continues to grow.  From fall 2017 to fall 2018, the number of Social Sciences majors increased by 30%!  The majority of this growth came from our online-only majors, and we now have a total of 125 Social Science majors.  I anticipate we will see continued growth in the major in the coming year.

We also saw our membership in Pi Gamma Mu, the Social Science honors society, increase this past year, inducting 9 students during our spring ceremony.  Further information on Pi Gamma Mu can be found on the organization’s international website.

If you have any questions or feedback regarding the Social Sciences program, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me via email at michael.armato@ucf.edu or swing by my office in HPH 409H.
