Biography
Dena has been an academic advisor with the College of Sciences for 8 years, and completed a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College in 2006. She has been a licensed therapist in the State of Florida since 2009, a National Certified Counselor through the NBCC since 2006, and is a current supervisor of graduate interns completing their M.A. degree in Mental Health Counseling through Rollins College. Dena is also in her second year of the doctoral Sociology program, with interests specific to academic and professional identity specifically within the pre-med population, or the “Pre-Med” identity of admitted undergraduate college students. Additional interest includes research that brings mental health awareness into the forefront of professional development and self-efficacy at the college-involvement level prior to graduation.
