Biography

George J. Micheletti received his MA degree in Anthropology at UCF in 2016 and is currently a PhD candidate in the college’s Integrative Anthropological Sciences program with Dr. Michael Callaghan acting as his advisor. Since joining the Pacbitun Regional Archaeological Project (PRAP) with Dr. Terry Powis of Kennesaw State University in 2011, George has studied the ancient Maya of the Belize River Valley and Southern Lowlands. Much of his archaeological work at the site of Pacbitun, Belize has centered on the monumental architecture of the site’s ceremonial plaza. Currently, his dissertation work has initiated an extensive periphery study at Pacbitun investigating how the Classic period intra-polity flow of ritual ideological innovation reflects the relationship between periphery households and the royal elite of the epicenter.
