Rainie Hoogendoorn is a PhD student in the Integrative Anthropological Sciences Program at the University of Central Florida, specializing in bioarchaeology and environmental archaeology under the advisement of Dr. Emily Zavodny. Rainie received her B.S. in Anthropology and a Forensic Certificate from the University of South Dakota in 2021 and completed her M.S. in Bioarchaeology from Bournemouth University in 2023. For her master’s thesis, she analyzed a large microfauna assemblage to assess the use and seasonality of a British Iron Age pit in southern England using a range of quantitative and qualitative zooarchaeological methods.

Rainie was awarded the 2026 Trustees Doctoral Fellowship and expects to complete her studies in 2030.
