Summer 2020 ICCAE Scholarship Opportunity

The application period for this one-time award ended June 5, 2020, recipients were contacted late June.

In most years, the Central Florida Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence (CF-ICCAE) helps University of Central Florida and Seminole State College students do internships and study abroad by providing them with competitively awarded grants. But 2020 has not been a normal year—most internships and study abroad programs were cancelled. So, during summer 2020, the CF-ICCAE repurposed those funds as one-time scholarships. 96 students applied and 28 of them (23 from UCF and 5 from SSC) were awarded grants of up to $2000.

Our scholarship recipients are diverse in terms of academic major and background and represent the best of UCF and SSC. Their average GPA of the scholarship recipients was above 3.7. Majors include Anthropology, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Economics, Finance, Forensic Sciences, Information Technology/Cybersecurity, International & Global Studies, Journalism, Political Science, Psychology, and Public Administration. Twelve recipients were first generation college students, 32% of the recipients come from Latinx backgrounds, and 21% of the recipients are African-Americans. The CF-ICCAE was thrilled to be able support these students during these challenging times.

The CF-ICCAE is funded by a grant from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Its mission is to encourage interest in, and provide professional skills relevant to, careers in the US Intelligence Community. The CF-ICCAE supports academic programs in intelligence and national security; provides financial support to students engaged in internships, study abroad programs, and undergraduate research; and sponsors events that bring intelligence community personnel to campus to interact with UCF and SSC students.
