The UCF Department of Statistics & Data Science instructs students in a wide variety of methods for collection, analysis, interpretation, presentation, and organization of data. Students in our programs gain the knowledge and technical skills necessary to use complex data in many different applications. The department offers three undergraduate degrees: one in Statistics, one in Actuarial Science, and one in Data Science. The graduate degree offered by the department includes an M.S. degree with two tracks in Data Mining and Statistical Computing, a SAS certificate program, and a Ph.D. degree in Big Data Analytics.

The field of big data has recently exploded. There is an ever-increasing need for industry professionals that can interpret data to help companies make business decisions.

The Big Data Analytics Ph.D. program aims to train students and researchers to analyze massive data and uncover hidden patterns, actionable associations and other useful information for better decision making.
