The UCF Office of Research through the Accelerating Research Translation (ART) Program, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), has launched the Seed Translational Research Project (STRP) Internal Solicitation. The NSF ART program goal is to build capacity and infrastructure for translational research at U.S. Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) to accelerate transformation of research discoveries into products and solutions that benefit society. STRP projects will be funded up to $100,000 per year for up to 2 years, with a maximum total budget of $200,000.  In addition to funding, STRP recipients will receive research translation support through educational activities, entrepreneurship training, and personalized business coaching sessions.  The STRPs will be evaluated and continued as merited by the results, and the STRP investigators will contribute to evaluating UCF’s research-translation infrastructure improvements.

Eligibility:

  • Investigator(s) must be current faculty member(s) at UCF and have or have had federal funding support for their research program.
  • The underlying invention(s)/technology must be disclosed (or the disclosure process should be initiated) to Office of Technology Transfer prior to award of funds.
  • Applicants with invention(s)/technology intended to have societal or economic impact within vulnerable and underserved communities, or for vulnerable and underserved populations are encouraged to apply.
