Biography

Dr. Mark Johnson is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Statistics and Data Science. He is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, Chartered Statistician with the Royal Statistical Society and an Elected Member of the International Statistical Institute.  He wrote the book Multivariate Statistical Simulation published by John Wiley and has received numerous awards for his research papers.  In 1996 he started working in the area of hurricane risk modeling which has generated well over a million dollars in funding .  He heads the professional team that audits computer hurricane models for insurance rate filings in the state of Florida and has also consulted with North Carolina and Massachusetts on hurricane modeling issues and catastrophic risk problems internationally.

Dr. Johnson retired from UCF in 2017.
