UCF Anthropology alumni are making an impact in academia, cultural heritage, government, nonprofit organizations, research, and beyond. The information below highlights graduate outcomes and selected alumni whose careers reflect the diverse opportunities available to graduates of our M.A. and Ph.D. programs.
M.A. ALUMNI
Since Fall 2020, the department has tracked the outcomes of M.A. graduates. Among those tracked, 100% are either employed full time or pursuing advanced graduate study.
Seventy-four percent (74%) are currently employed full time in a wide range of fields, including archaeology, cultural resource management, government agencies, education, museums, nonprofits, and research organizations. Alumni have secured positions with organizations such as the Georgia State Archaeologist’s Office, U.S. Forest Service, World Monuments Fund, U.S. Bureau of Land Management, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Orange County Government, and Hanover Research.
Twenty-six percent (26%) have matriculated into Ph.D. or other advanced professional degree programs. Alumni have continued their education at institutions including the University of Central Florida, Northwestern University, Johns Hopkins University, Arizona State University, University of Oklahoma, George Mason University, University of South Florida, North Carolina State University, and the University of New Mexico.
PH.D. ALUMNI
Since the first cohort completed the Ph.D. program in Spring 2022, 100% of Ph.D. graduates are currently employed. Of those graduates, 67% hold academic positions, including postdoctoral scholars, tenure-track assistant professors, adjunct faculty, and visiting professors. Alumni are currently affiliated with institutions such as the University of Central Florida, University of Kentucky, Macalester College, and Oxford College of Emory University.
The remaining 33% are employed in professional positions within cultural heritage, archaeology, and nonprofit organizations, demonstrating the versatility of doctoral training in anthropology and its applicability across academic and professional sectors.
