The College of Sciences has introduced several new awards as a way to recognize excellence in our focus areas. Explore the awards and view past winners below.

Staff Council Professional Development Award

The College of Sciences (COS) Staff Council is pleased to share about an opportunity for staff in the College to apply for professional development funds. Staff may be eligible to receive up to $500 for the purposes of training relevant to job roles within the College.

Supervisor approval is required to apply, and funds must be used for approved purposes within the current fiscal year. Applications will be reviewed on a continuous basis, and awardees will receive communication and instructions on how to use the funds. Please note that awarded funds must comply with UCF procurement policies and procedures and the application link will be available until professional development funds are expended. These awards recognize staff members who deliver outstanding service and make a positive impact on someone’s day or the outcome of a project. See below for more information:

  • Both staff and faculty can nominate staff members.
  • Staff members receive a certificate and a small gift.
  • Recognition events will be held at least once a semester.
  • Award does not include financial incentive.

Staff Ace Award

These awards recognize a staff member who consistently takes initiative to support COS while working well with those around them. This person could be considered a “mover and shaker” in their respective area. While having direct reports isn’t necessary, they should demonstrate strong leadership skills that inspire others. See below for more information:

  • One staff member per month is selected.
  • Both staff and faculty can nominate staff members.
  • The nominee’s direct supervisor must support the nomination.
  • Nominees will be considered for the award for three months.
  • Winners will receive a certificate, a small gift and $250.
  • Recognition events will be held at least once a semester.
