Biography

Marianna Pensky is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics. Her main areas of research are Data Science, Machine Learning and Mathematical Statistics. Marianna received her PhD from the Moscow State University in 1988. She has been working at the Department of Mathematics at UCF since August 1995.

Dr. Pensky has more than 100 refereed publications, many of which appeared in the best journals in her field, such as The Annals of Statistics, The Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, The Journal of the American Statistical Association. She is an Elected Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the world organization of academic statisticians, the American Statistical Association, and of the International Statistical Institute. In 2023, she was elected a Pegasus Professor, the highest award at the University of Central Florida.

Currently, Dr. Pensky is one of the Chief editors of the Journal of the Statistical Planning and Inference, and also an Associate Editor for the Annals of Statistics.

Dr. Pensky graduated 13 PhD and 9 MS students, all of whom found employment after completing their degrees.
