Biography
| I earned my PhD in Physics Education Research from the University of Washington in 2018. After working as a postdoctoral scholar at UCF for two years, I joined Westminster College, a small liberal arts college in Utah, as an Assistant Professor of Physics in 2020. I then joined UCF as a Lecturer in 2022. |
Research Area
My research focuses on investigating and improving student learning outcomes as well as learning experience. I use both qualitative and quantitative methods to (1) examine students’ ideas about quantum physics concepts and formalism, (2) use generative AI to assist in grading students’ written work to free response questions and providing personalized feedback, (3) investigate how students engage in discourse during group work, (4) train graduate teaching assistants to adopt evidence-based teaching skills to promote active learning, and (5) study how students collaborate with AI on physics tasks.
