Biography

Dr. Yiwen Wang is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Central Florida. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Sociology at Rice University. Her research explores how social inequality shapes family life and health across the life course. One area of her work examines how marriage and family affect health, with a focus on same-sex unions and sexual minority families. Another area investigates how social disadvantages—such as gender, sexuality, or socioeconomic status—influence well-being over the life course. Her work has been published in journals including The Journals of Gerontology: Series B, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Archives of Sexual Behavior, Journal of Family Studies, BMC Public Health, Asian Population Studies, and other outlets.
