Biography

Sara is a proud second-generation, Iranian/Palestinian, first-year doctoral student at the University of Central Florida. She holds an M.S. in Applied Sociology and a B.A. in Anthropology and Sociology from Valdosta State University.

Sara taught sociology at the University of Tampa and Hillsborough Community College. She is a passionate educator who thrives on watching students learn sociology.

Sara’s primary interests include the Sociology of Native Americans, particularly the effects of colonization, missing and murdered Indigenous women, violence against Native women, and the overrepresentation of Native youth in the child welfare system. Sara is also interested in the Sociology of Sport, social inequalities, program evaluation, and qualitative methods.

Her goal is to work with Native communities and bring awareness to the violence against Native Americans. Additionally, she wants to pursue a career in higher education where she can design a curriculum on the Sociology of Native Americans.
