Biography

Lisa is a second year Ph.D. student in the Sociology department interested in researching Inequalities in Puerto Rico. More specifically, Lisa has conducted research on the sociopolitical factors that impact disaster relief after Hurricanes and other natural hazards impact the island and its residents. Lisa’s current research interests are the use of social media to build community in Puerto Rico and the impact of public-school closure on rural communities on the island.

Lisa received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University Sacramento. Lisa is a nature and animal lover and enjoys travelling in her free time. She plans on pursuing a career in academia and hopes to encourage institutions to teach courses that are representative of their student population.
