Biography
Sara is a proud second-generation, Iranian/Palestinian, second-year doctoral student at the University of Central Florida. She holds an M.S. in Applied Sociology and a B.A. in Anthropology and Sociology from Valdosta State University.
Sara taught sociology at the University of Tampa and Hillsborough Community College. She is a passionate educator who thrives on watching students learn sociology. She currently teaches Social Power and Inequality at UCF.
Sara’s primary interests include the Sociology of Native Americans, particularly the effects of colonization, missing and murdered Indigenous women, violence against Native women, and environmental reproductive justice. Sara is also interested in the Sociology of Sport, social inequalities, program evaluation, and qualitative methods.
My professional goals are to conduct participatory action research with Indigenous Tribes by collaborating with them on research they deem most necessary to impact change in their communities. I also strive to become a tenured faculty member at a university.
